diner was not up to a very standard . we will go again but not for diner
The hotel is set in a lovely position in the town, with a very pleasant reception area with good tea room adjoining. We enjoyed a 3 course evening meal in the restaurant which was fantastic and the restaurant staff were very attentive. Nice garden area and good breakfast.
The room we were given was very dated, it was small and the bed was uncomfortable. We stayed on a Sunday evening and the hotel was reasonably quiet, however, we were given a room miles from reception and upon departure I noticed rooms of the same size on the same corridor were a lot nicer with flat screen televisions! I couldnt help but think we had been given a basic room as a result of booking an 'offer' online...maybe i'm wrong?
The friendly, competent and helpful staff- good to see Jean is still there!
The time between courses at dinner was slightly overlong.
Relaxing and cosy. Beautiful curtains and armchairs. Very clean bedrooms with lots of lamps to make the room welcoming. Soft duvets. Wonderful restaurant with helpful staff and very tasty food.
They did allow pets and not everyone likes the idea of pets being in the bedrooms. We heard a dog barking along the corridor from us.
Getting woken up at 09.00 by maid service knocking at door
the friendliness of the staff and the restful atmosphere
on one day my breakfast tray was still on the floor outside my room at teatime
Nice garden pleasant room comfortable bed friendly staff.
Did not like, and all other residents we spoke to, agreed with us, the long wait in the dining room in the evening. It was always at least 2 hrs. Sometimes longer.
I really liked the room I was given. It was very clean and tidy. It had easy access to the back car park and the hotel garden. It was lovely watching a decent size flat screen tv with excellent reception. There was planty of choice on the breakfast menu. Staff were friendly.
The only negative was the long trek through the hotel down several sets of stairs to reach the main part of the hotel for breakfast. During the day I tended to use the back door and walk down the side lane which was easier.
We had booked dinner bed and breakfast for the weekend of 2nd July 2011. After reading some reviews on the internet I was rather worried at what we would find. I can only give my review and say I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were very friendly the place was very clean and the food in the restaurant in the evening was the best we have ever eaten. We have been on cruises and eaten at some posh places but none can compare to the meal we had on Saturday night. My husband asked for chips as an extra and the waitress said they do not do chips but would ask the chef. We told her we would be happy with new potatoes. When the meal came we were presented with the best chips in the world. How wonderful was that. How I wish we could go back again as every thing was spot on even down to the maid coming into the room and turning down the bed for the night and tidying up for us. So a big thankyou to all concerned for making our stay one to remember. Jenny
The food was truly excellent, each dish a work of art, and delicious.
Hotel was lovely staff helpful, however dinner menu confusing and over priced, had we been made aware of the room service menu this would have been preferable.
Bedrooms were of the highest quality and very comfortable. Parking was very convenient. Breakfast was very good but modest in size!
Trek to the bedroom
The room was a little jaded, but very comfortable, the staff were great, but the bestof all was the food, superb local produce, cooked with imagination, every bite was an experience, brilliant.
Nothing to dislike at all
The room and the location being so close to the countryside.
I thought that the evening meal was brilliantly presented. We paid for bed, breakfast and dinner. What I really resented was being charged £3.50 for about eight new potatoes and £3.50 for a minute dish of vegetables on top of what we had paid.To then also try and charge £4,50 for a cup of coffee ,after dinner, to me was outrageous. If it is an inclusive deal you expect it to be included.Nice hotel but I am left with the thought our business was obtained somewhat dishonestly.
Comfortable room with excellent quality bedding
Quite pricey for what is essentially an average hotel room. We stayed half board, the waiting staff in the bar/restaurant provided a top quality experience but the food proved to be more style than substance. Beautifully presented but tiny portions - the veg stated on the menu was either that small it was practically invisable or made into a puree and used to decorate the plate.
